A colorful use for Photoshop

Spacing and kerning a typeface is a demanding task: finding a balance between designed shapes, the letters, using the white space between them requires eye and concentration, experience and effort.
      When Igino Marini graduated in Civil Engineering, he didn't know he would became more involved in typography. Consequently he's devoted most of his time to typography and most particularly "kerning" . . .

The Letter Cult

A colorful use for Photoshop

IN 2008, Brian Jaramillo and Ray Frenden started the Letter Cult to highlight artists and designers doing remarkable work with Custom Letters. My problem is, I have yet to find any of the samples they show linked to the artist or author -- which means it's an eye-candy stream dead-end street -- except then you get a listing of credits WITHOUT work associated with it.
      Type designers, letterers, sign painters, graffiti artists, stone carvers, calligraphers, poster artists, and graphic designers with a love for typography need to get acquainted with the Letter Cult.

The fourth floor of the Museum for Industrial Archaeology and Textile (MIAT) in Ghent, Belgium houses a department devoted to the history of printing from the Industrial Revolution onwards.
      THis article goes through some background, and education -- but the photos are really the reason I'm posting this . . . such wonderful photos of the process.
