Flash Slideshows with Pixtivity

Have you ever said something like this, "I love how they did that! I wish I knew how to create Flash slide shows but I just don't have the time to learn?" Pixtivity's best advantage is the ability to easily create a professional-looking Flash product without knowing Flash.

When compared to some other album-generating programs I've used, that have lots of styles to choose from, Pixtivity Professional Photo Presentations is a pretty simple program to learn. The online tutorial is instructive and fairly easy to use.

The interface has four tabs that lead you through the process of creating your product. You can create photo albums, portfolios, slideshows, and video shows, and add music and animation.

The Presentation tab has many styles and types of transitions to choose from. This was fun to look through; there are so many ways to present your photographs. You can see a selected style in operation to help you decide which one to use. One draw-back is it would be nice to be able to have a mix-and-match of transition effects for any given show rather one transition style for the whole show. (enlarge)

The Manage Content tab

The Manage Content tab is where you import your photographs and arrange their display order. The interface has a sliding tab for increasing or decreasing the size of the thumbnails in the workspace. (enlarge)

Edit Content tab

The Edit Content tab is for cropping your image. This is also where you type in photo titles, captions, and links for each image. Something I would like to see in a future version is the ability to assign keywords to images. The final tab is Preview and Publish. Here you can preview a portion of your project or the whole thing. This is where you customize your presentation and save your final copy.

I completed a slide show and a photo strip. The slide show I even uploaded to my website, www.mimsgallery.com, to test it out and for my readers to see how this nifty program can help you look professional without knowing all the ins and outs of Flash. Here's what it looks like on my site:

If you want to use Flash presentations but don't have the time or inclination to learn how, this program is worth the money. Because it's so simple, you'll probably use it frequently. It's an easy one to learn and use, it allows some customization, it's reasonably priced, and it's a great way to enhance your website or photo sharing abilities.

Have fun!
