Make Adobe Photoshop. work harder for
image manipulation, painting and getting the most from your images.

You've got...
If you can Photoshop it, you can SPLAT it!

If you can Photoshop it, you can Splat it!

Our good friends at Alien Skin have done it again with their all new plug-ins product Splat!

We've got more than a dozen new programs here to review, and when SPLAT arrived I just had to jump in.

SPLAT joins the line of excellent Alien Skin products we've told you about again and again over the years, like Xenofex, a "Software of the Year" award winner, "Eye Candy" their biggest product, and Black Box, the original Photoshop plug-ins package. Well, SPLAT now adds some new twists and turns and teaches the old dog Photoshop some totally new tricks.

If you can Photoshop it, you can SPLAT it!According to Alien Skin, Splat is big on frames and photo edges. I think they think the home market and the infant 'iPhoto' market will jump on it for framing photos of the kids. And, you know they're probably right. However, from where I am, as a digital graphics and web professional, that's not what I thought was the most cool thing about SPLAT... no, sir-reee!

In this new plug-in for Photoshop, Fireworks, Paint Shop Pro, and other Photoshop plug-in compatibles, resurfacing, stamping and object fills is where SPLAT kicks up the most excitement.

Resurface
adds any of 100 high-resolution surface textures to any object or selection. Makes working in natural media easy as a few clicks. Includes paper, metal, stone, wood, leather, brick, carpet, concrete, dirt, fur and more. And if you look closely at our example here of the letter painted on the rough, highly embossed surface of this safety-plate steel - the little mistakes in the paint caused by the raised traction bars on the steel is the real pay off!

Doing this traditionally in Photoshop with a layer blend would result in a perfect letter. Not so in real life!

And take a look at our frog (below). With a click he effortlessly turns into a needlepoint just like grandma would have made! These little details are what makes SPLAT shine.

If you can Photoshop it, you can SPLAT it!
