Next, create the actual opening for the hole...
-Select the Lasso Tool and draw an outline of the shape you would like the burn hole to be.

It should have an irregular, jaggy shape to it.

- With your selection active, switch to QuickMask Mode, hit the Q key or click the icon in the ToolBar.
- Go to Filter > Pixelate > Crystallize and use a setting of 4.
- Switch back out of QuickMask Mode, again hit the Q key,
- With the outline selection still active, go to the Channels Palette and click on the Make Mask icon. (It's the second from the left for you PS 4.0 users)
- The outline selection is still active. Hit the Delete Key. This will fill the hole with White
- Now go to the Main Menu > Select Expand 5 pixels
- Switch back to QuickMask Mode
- Main Menu > Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur 3 pixels
- Switch back out of QuickMask Mode and go to ...
- Main Menu > Select > Load Selection. Make sure that the selection you're loading is our mask channel #4 AND click on SUBTRACT MODE.
