In a recent series on photography, we mention making eye contact with the reader. Many people say the eyes are your most important feature. They tell a story -- they can direct the reader, and even point at something on the page. We’ll investigate this more as the series goes on.
... In this example, the eyes instill a certain trust in the reader. They send the message that the woman in the ad is speaking directly to you. Notice also how the eyes make a nice left to right pointing device that is picked up by the hand, and taken along the curve of the face, directing the reader directly into the visual comparison in the body text. Nice.
... Eye contact is a very effective technique, however, it can be made even more effective by isolating the eyes.
Let’s say we wanted to make those eyes even more powerful by isolating them.

There are a number of different ways of doing this, however you may want to try this technique.
With various channel operations or layer masks it’s difficult sometimes to really see what you’re doing. This can make for a lot of time-consuming trial and error.

Let's take a look at one way to heighten this sensation,
and make the eyes even more dramatic. . .
