Wiggle
it around until you get the best alignment. Now we need to drag over copies, aligning
them until you have the stick as long as you like.
Obviously,
there's going to be some misalignment. Here I seem to have a lot, just because I'm
working at low res (for web sake) and because I'm moving along pretty fast.
... Touch-up here is pretty easy, but get the finger
tool again, and set the size smaller and rub down through the channels of white. The edges will
blend together and your stripes will become smoother. I was tempted to smooth out
all the stripes, but there was other, more important work to do first.
... To be convincing we need now to give our peppermint
stick some dimensional shape.
... This can easily be done in your favorite 3D rendering
program, but for those of you who don't have one, you can do it in about the amount
of time it would take to load one of those programs.
Select the entire length of stick to form a mask. What we'll be doing is using the
airbrush in much the same way as we used the finger in our first smear step.
... With a darker color, set the airbrush to very light, and
set brush size very large. Holding in on the shift key, pull a nice straight fog
across the entire length of the stick. See how nicely that works?
