This is our "Destination" file. The selection here helps us establish the target size and shape.

Working with the scale selection

Option #1 Fill the selection, or fill the INVERSE of the selection with a color. (See: article on "Feathering")

Option #2 Modify Border and stroke it with several pixels, then activate a new (transparent) layer and fill. Now we have a black ring that is our target selection.

Establish the Destination

In this example we're making a title slide for the boy's fishing trip video. (The grand parents will love this -- you can bet they'll be the only ones still awake by the end of the show!)

First we'll get a rough size selection for the incoming photo. Here the lens of the video camera makes an appropriate image to kick off a video or slide show.

We select an area inside the lens and transfer to a new, blank (transparent) layer in the snapshot scan.

Once we've arrived, we can do one of several things to get the scaling process going.
