Photoshop Pen Tool & Paths Palette

  1. MULTIHEAD FX Photoshop Tutorial
This site gives a step by step guide to using the pen tool in the Photoshop program. The instructions are easy to follow and pictures are there to guide the user. However, with instructions like 'left click,' it might be difficult for a Mac user to utilize. Also, the user should be familiar with the Photoshop program before starting this tutorial, knowing where the 'pen menu' is located. 2. Heart 3
I thought the theme of hearts would be most appropriate for the Valentine's Day weekend. However, in addition to being fitting to the holiday season, this particular tutorial touched upon many tricks of the trade when it comes to using the pen tool, channels and paths. A couple tricks that I picked up on was the different uses of the ctrl button and the alt-backspace command that completely fills a layer with color. I enjoyed the different techniques and stylizations that Janee pointed ou in her fun, but educational tutorial. I learned how to make a 3-D heart which hopefully one day I will be able to add to my graphic design signature! 3. Jay Arraich's Photoshop Tips - 7 Pen Tools
This site gives a very thorough but understandable summary of all the functions of the pen tool. It uses graphics to clarify points but does not show examples of work done with the pen tool. This page is focused on Photoshop 7.0, but most of the tools work exactly the same in Photoshop 6. Departments/Topics: Photoshop Tutorial Report and -- Site content author: Jay Arraich. Paths uses including filling, stroking, etc. Also, the author states that they’re many tools several different pen tools. The most important happens to be the “Bezier” curve tool. This site goes on further in detail about drawing paths, which requires a little practice. Overall the site is a good site to refer to in the future. 6. Mastering the pen tool in photoshop (PDF)
This site goes over the pen tool and how to use it. It talks about the types of pens avalable, and the different ways to use them. With diagrams and a description we learn when to click and how to drag the mouse to get different effects in this site. I think its kinda of hard to understand unless you have ssome overall idea about photoshop. It would be much easier if you were reading this while doing it at the same time. This site also talks about paths and what they are and why they are helpfull. We learn about the paths pallete and how we can create new paths. The most helpful part of this site for me was the discriptions with the pictures below, it helped me get the feel for what was going on. (This is a PDF file! Drag link to desktop rather than clicking.) Departments/Topics: Photoshop Tutorial Report and -- Site content author: Chris Lehan. This link was submitted by: augustine, posted on 3/17/2003

  9. Multihead FX-How to use the Photoshop Pen tool
This is the true moment that I realized the importance of this report. However, reporting this web-site, I pretty much got the basic knowledge of pen tool. Starting with the defination of "Pen" tool, this web site provides specific information of mostly everyting (even implies the idea and purpose of the tool). In addition, continues the series to creation, and to manipulation tool, for better understanding. Overall, this web site is easy to understand and helpful. 11. Icehouse Designs Photoshop 6 toolbar
Though this site does not have illustrations, I find the wording to be more comprehensive and overall better delivered than some picture tutorials. The instructions are understandable, and worded in such a way that is sounds like the instructor is guiding you through the process. He is also truthful, stating that some tools are easier than others for beginners to master. He gives instructions on specific pens, not the pen tool in general. 12. pen tool
I didnt really like this site it goes over the pen tool, but not to its fullest. It doesnt show the different forms the tool can take, or differnet ways to use it. All it does is show how to use the tool in its simplest form, to draw a straght line. Instead of curving the line, this tutorial shows goign around with lots of little, close together, dots. i didnt find it very helpfull at all and i would not recommend it Departments/Topics: Photoshop Tutorial Report and -- Site content author: blank.
