  1. Adobe Photoshop - Retouching Images
This website was made as a tutorial for beginners working with photoshop. It gives very simple yet specific directions and has some illustrations to go along with it. Departments/Topics: 01 General, beginner, basic, fundamentals and -- Site content author: . This link was submitted by: McGinley, posted on 10/13/2003
  2. Blue Sky Heart Graphics: Portfolio
This website is just simply a site to promote a company's work. As far as deconstruction, the page shows a lot of different graphics that do not seem too difficult to create. The graphics seem to be made with many layers with simple graphics that could have just been cut and pasted. It is obvious that some of it has been rendered with a "shiny" adjustment layer. Because a lot of the graphics are round in shape, the words and logos are easily created with the shape tool and can be easily transformed. It seems like the company also used a lot of the gradient tool for background. I like how the creators did a shimmery kind of effect on the broom like a "sweep" that sparkles. But that can also be easily made with the adjustment layers tool. Overall, the deconstruction of all the images seems obvious and simply enough. The only thing that would be time consumming is the shaping of each object. Departments/Topics: Deconstruction and -- Site content author: Layne Karkruff. 4. Claudio Grilli: Cool Graphics
This assignment was to find any website with really cool graphics. The one I chose, well, the art on t it is actually kinda weird, but I thought it looked like it used really interesting technique. The guy who made this site, and all the work on it, gives you examples of some of his artwork, webdesigns, logos, and illustrations. He does a lot of work for heavy metal bands...so like i said, its kinda weird, but the effects of all of the peices look really great. It was interesting to look through. 5. COOL BABY GRAPHICS
Cool baby graphics does tons and tons of design work. You follow the link then click on portfolio. Their theme or slogan is put a face on your business and they do graphics for websites, logo, illustrations, business cards and more. I like the style its mostly babyfaces that I am assuming they creat for each different client, although they do other things like animals and whatever. It looks like they use tons of layers. And I would guess to create these very animated like graphics they use the magic wand, lasseo, and pen tools. Color seems to be a big part and is very detailed. They also pay close attention to the text and from what I have seen they like their text for clients to be in the banner or flag type style. 6. Graphic design services
i went to a site before i found this one certain picture. I found a site with alot of graphics on it but this one stuck out to e more than the others. The way it was put together looks like the artist used alof of blending and featheringg and overlapping pictures but at the same time the context and how its presenting looks great. 7. Lautenbach Illustrations
This guy is an illustrator who works in photoshop 5.5. Looking at his Scenes From Exodus that he created, I would guess that he used layers of vectors to create the basic shapes of the characters. He stroked the path with thin black lines to make it look like an ink drawing. Then to get the shading, he could've used the gradient tool and/or the airbrush tool to get a soft transition. For highlights the erasure tool would've been helpful. You would just keep adding shading and highlights (and fiddling with the opacity and fill) until you get the fine detail he has with his illustrations. 8. Pen Tool and Paths
One of the more difficult tasks of photoshop using the path tools. This cite has a really brief description, but easy to understand explanation of the basic steps needed to master the path tools. Huge pictures make sure that nothing is misunderstood. Gets right to the point. It does not however use its pictures of explanation on actuall photos but still it makes enough sense to understand the concept. 9. Pen Tool: Making Hearts
This site teaches how to create four different kinds of heart using the pen tool. It might seem like a simple task but she goes into detail about using the pen tool, creating curves and straight lines as well as using the gausian blur tool and lighting effects. Using the channels palette we are able to create different renderings of hearts. By the end of the tutorial we are able to see that there are different methods and ways to making hearts. 10. Pen Tools: Photoshop Introduction
This site is even better than the one I posted earlier about the pen tool. It is certainly longer and more in depth, that's for sure. It has pictures that show exactly where the pen tool is located, and all the options form the options bar. It also talks about open and closed anchor points, and all the key commands to merge two straight lines into a smooth curve using all of the anchor point controls. This site is so in depth, its ridiculous. Departments/Topics: 07 Pen Tool, paths, vectoring, strokes, stroking, fills and -- Site content author: Chris Young. 11. Photoshop Crash Course
This website is a good step by step resourse for photoshop. It talks about how to create paths, and add color and different artistic techniques to change a photo. I have used this site in the past and found it to be very helpful. Again an amazing site for visual assistance. Great step by step instructions on how to use the variety of tools you need for photo retouching and the stamp clone tool, the eye dropper for color, and healing brush tool. Great step by step instructions. I would definatly use the cite to later improve my knowledge of the variety of tools. 16. Sheeze Graphics
This site was just one that I ran into while looking for better sites for other weekly submissions. This is a very odd weekly report topic. However, the graphics of this site seem interesting. Although dont feel that I am fully knowing of every technique used, I think that the logo was done with several different things. The asterisk in the lower left hand corner is possibly a vector object with a white gradient inside. The colorized writing at the top is done with the paintbrush but with a little bit of glow on it. The balls that are just hanging out in there are perfect circles with ovals inside of them to create a light refection effect. Those probably have a overall white tone with the opacity turned down a little. The writing in the upper right hand corner is used from text and then with a flag effect on it. The waves that go through the middle of it are probably just different colored layers. Departments/Topics: Deconstruction and -- Site content author: Sheeze Graphics. 17. Vector Objects, shapes
This Tutorial was very long, but thourough. Simple step by step instrucions along with funny annotation helped understand the instructions more clearly. I didn't realize that importing of vectors destroys and alters the vector shape, that is why you have to create them yourself! Vector masks were used and well as the objective to be creative. He went through details of all of the tools used, their fuctions and settings for each one. For not being an "official" website, i felt that this tutorial was a alot easier to follow and more helpful to me.
