"...this webpage designer needs parental guidance!"

Comments from reviewers:
"I am more worried about her content than her site design. Changing her text color would be a major improvement to readability. "

"...this webpage needs
parental guidance!"

__ What can we say. If you visit this site you'll be amazed at its lack of direction. The author is very young though, so, we have to temper this review with a bit of restraint. We do feel however that this 13 year old should have gotten help.
__ Let's address just the visual aspects and leave the editorial aspects for another day.
__ First, the page is unreadable if anyone arrives with graphics turned on. The type is simply unreadable. Kill the erroneous background. (we suspect that's a mistake rather than intentional.)
__ The top graphic didn't load and just wasn't anywhere to be found by the browser. The "Welcome" type must have been taken from another site because it simply doesn't fit with anything else on the page. To make matters worse, it's repeated three times.
__ The animated marquis is cute... but what does open 24-hours have to do with this web site? Is the web not open 24-hours a day??? Once again, another 'picked-up' graphic.
__ The creator should ask "why am I doing this?" and then design to support that mission. If something is not necessary to that mission, then get rid of it. If the page doesn't have a mission, then get rid of the whole page.
__ We don't mean to be harsh. This is primarily a design column. This page seems to be just someone's playtime web activity.
__ Several of our reviewers expressed deeper concern, so we've omitted our editorial comments thereby letting our reviewers speak for themselves:

Comments from reviewers:

" I am troubled by the fact this 13 yr. old has mentioned more than once that she wants email. Plus stating her religious beliefs make me feel as if she is leaving herself wide open to be lured into the darker side of the web. I know we are allowed free speech on the net but there are people out there waiting to lure kids like this in."

"Plain and simple the image on this page is scanned improperly, IE and Netscape do not show this page as the same, the author linked the background color with someone elses page background."

"...html errors abound! Why the remote background?"
"...why is the body of text centered, and made a link?"
