Why we're using pop-up
browser pages:

Many people like to read the content without the graphics.
_ With Pop-Up windows, they can be opened in the background (loading) while you read the content.
_ If we just linked to the graphic, or sent you to another page, to return you'd have to load this page again.

thanks for reading.

Soap Dishes
by Cotton Blossom

The Author said:
Soap Dishes by Cotton Blossom crafts -- Description of wooden soap dishes that are available for sale to anyone desiring a good dish to drain their fine soaps and prolong the life of each bar. The key point of the site is the description of the dish and the value it has to each consumer. Lynne Olson

POP-Up Samples: Before, and BrokenGraphic, and After

Joyce critiques:

You have done a good job here but there are a few things that could add to the professionalism of the page.

  1. The background image is more like what would be on a personal page.
  2. The main thing I did to the after was to change the table size of the table containing the image. Now the text aligns with the image better.
  3. I removed the banner because it appears in Internet explorer as an ad.
  4. I think it would be fun to add some bubbles maybe behind a name logo or coming up from the soap dishes. Another possibiltiy would be to show the soap dish in use. Maybe one by itself with a beautiful decorative soap bar on it. Or possibley a sink with the soap dish and your soap on it.
  5. In Netscape the image at the bottom of the page is broken because you used a .bmp format. (See: BrokenGraphic)

You probably didn't know what I meant above when I said your name banner appeared as an ad.
__ I thought that might be the case so I opened your site in Internet Explorer (I use Netscape) and sure enough the program called Adbin (see the recent review done on this program) tagged it as an ad and replaced it. This is how it looks to anyone running the ad replacer.
__ Speaking of the bottom images. All those Webrings are out of place on retail sites. Now if this were a site that was offering craft tutorials or classes they may beappropriate. If you want to make these link resources available you could include a link to soapmaking resources etc. and have them put there.
__ The bottom of the page didn't fit in one screen shot, it also includes the 3 buttons shown earlier.
__ After cleaning things up a bit, the overall page now has a bit more freshness, and appeal.

Some of you may not want to read what Fred has to say, so I've put it on the next page...
