Progressive Works
I've always felt that art is a tool that can alleviate the mind as well as eleviate the heart, mind and soul. Through illustrations, layout designs for magazines, web page templates and company identities, society is often visually pleased aesthetically. A prime example of this is the Super Bowl. What other event in the history of visual media draws a crowd and such excitement consistently each year. It's not only the actual commercials that people enjoy, but often the visual logo's and "identities" of these companies is what makes these commercials memorable. It's the simple design and patriotic colors of the Pepsi logo that draw us in and help us to relate and remember it. It doesn't hurt that they have a great product as well.

Cie Art - original paintings by Jonathan Weiser
An online gallery to display the artwork of Jonathan Weiser. The artwork displayed is mostly unique paintings made with oil and acrylic paint. Cie Art is one of a kind in the way which its content is presented. Both vertical and horizontal aspects are used to incorporate a cascading motion of movement throughout the site. The layout of the site is meant to be easy on the eye and encompass the feeling that all the space is used properly. The CieArt.com flash section is designed to integrate website functionality as a digital art form to show visual pictures by enhancing the senses experience through relative subject matter. The website is a piece of artwork in itself. Please make a full critique, tell us what you like and dislike. Cie Art went live in June 2003. Thank you

Reviewing Web Sites

One designer recently said

"You learn good design by looking at bad design."
... another states
"You learn good design through the works of others."

Both of these are correct -- but only to a certain point. We believe that you learn good design through the works of others only when you make an effort to actually evaluate the work and state why you think it works or doesn't work. Only then do you actually make it part of your knowledge-base. We're all born with the same set of tools. Those tools you develop and 'grow' are the ones that you use for life -- the effective ones.

If you find a site you like, make an effort to state why you like it. If it doesn't work, state why -- regardless of whether or not you tell the rest of us about your feelings. Just do it!
