The Gjenvick-Gjønvik Archives -
The Gjenvick_Gjønvik Archives was established in January 2000, first as a genealogy related site, and in 2003 focused on historical steamship documents from the 1870s through 1954. The site also has immigration related documents in their Special Documents Collection. Other sections of the website are devoted to the Gjenvick-Gjønvik Family History, the WPA, World War One, an extensive research library and documents and photographs of steamship port-of-calls. Please critique the site from the perspective of a family historian or researcher on how weel the site functions and ease of use / ability to find information. - Paul K. The Humanities with Mr. Blocher
I designed this primarily for my students to use in the ninth grade humanities class that i teach at Indian Trail Academy. They can download assignments, handouts, etc. The index page has music that will begin immediately, but the movie will take a LONG time to load. Skip it if you want. The Links page includes things they must use to complete their final project: Design a house that reflects their value system and worldview, and furnish it with Art, Music, and Drama that also reflects their worldview. Hence the links to the career sites, real estate site, and the house plan site. I've been a graphic designer for decades, but am new to HTML coding. I kept it simple, using tables for everything. So, what can a novice coder do to enhance this collection of pages? - Jonathan Blocher, posted for review on:

This is a site I was contracted to do for Georgetown College. It is primarily for letting parents know how to get involved, what to expect from their college student, and let them get in touch with whoever they need in administration at GC. The site also has downloadable schedules, links to information about the city of Georgetown, KY, and useful advice to parents. This is my second attempt at building a useful website. Reviewing Web Sites

One designer recently said

"You learn good design by looking at bad design."
... another states
"You learn good design through the works of others."

Both of these are correct -- but only to a certain point. We believe that you learn good design through the works of others only when you make an effort to actually evaluate the work and state why you think it works or doesn't work. Only then do you actually make it part of your knowledge-base. We're all born with the same set of tools. Those tools you develop and 'grow' are the ones that you use for life -- the effective ones.

If you find a site you like, make an effort to state why you like it. If it doesn't work, state why -- regardless of whether or not you tell the rest of us about your feelings. Just do it!
