Junkanoo Beat: Arts and Entertainment in The Bahamas
Junkanoo is a twice a year parade in my country that parade groups spend most of the year preparing for. The site has articles covering the junkanoo scene as well as concerts by locals and foreigners who visit us and other articles about general Native Cultural Events. Every Color scheme I've tried just turned out to be tooo....too bright and colorful...overpowering I guess. But the color scheme in use now, noboby likes it.

madonnasworld is about madonna , her work, her art, her music, and news.
I want this site to give fans more interesting info on madonna ,not found on other sites. Based in NYC, it is part of the 'madonnasworld network', which includes a mailing list, forum and catalog. Gives fans an outlet to know more about this icon in a new and in an appealing way.

Brainy Days UK Educational Toys
Dear All Our educational toy shop Brainy Days really needs a thorough checking out. We have managed to put on more than 700 products using Roman Cart (fingers crossed they are all working!). We would really appreciate any comments you have - favourable or otherwise. Is it easy to navigate? Is it user friendly? Is the design appropriate? If you find an error, I would really like to know! Thank you in advance. Lesley B

Eat Drink Play
site is to be a listings of a selection of 'good' places to eat, drink, play and stay and shop. You don't decide where you are going to eat by alphabetical order so we've categorised differently. I'd like a review of the graphics and in particular the navigation - there is no content at the moment as the site is yet to go live. Thanks
[Ed Note: You can say that again... in fact, when we visited there was NOTHING there but a blank gray screen. Come back when it's ready for the public!]

[Critique] Thomasinamusic.com
Thomasinamusic.com is home of aspiring vocalist, Thomasina. Content on this site includes streaming audio or full downloads of her demo, a background biography, performance schedule, and more. Thomasina feels that she is giving back to the music community by allowing others to see how a demo is made, and what it consists of.

just for fun and advice
I'm a huge sports fan, and have been organizing "fantasy" sports drafts and pools for years and years, and this started for fun with very basic fonts, no color, etc...now I'm trying to learn more about Dreamweaver and Front Page. Are there any better programs you can recommend? If so, drop me a line, I'm thinking of trying to go far with this idea for specific college sports fantasy leagues. I'm taking a course learning web design, so I'm a work-in-progress, so to speak. As I learn more, the more I want to improve my site. I use Tripod, and haven't been able to upload anything lately, so it's a little outdated. I know it's still pretty basic, not much going on, but the reason why I'm submitting it (and because it's part of an assignment) is to get feedback and suggestions on how to make it better from people who I think most likely know more about web design at this point than I do, key words; at this point-ha, ha! Thank you if you do check it out and please feel free to write a general critique, it would definitely help. Thanks again!

Reviewing Web Sites

One designer recently said

"You learn good design by looking at bad design."
... another states
"You learn good design through the works of others."

Both of these are correct -- but only to a certain point. We believe that you learn good design through the works of others only when you make an effort to actually evaluate the work and state why you think it works or doesn't work. Only then do you actually make it part of your knowledge-base. We're all born with the same set of tools. Those tools you develop and 'grow' are the ones that you use for life -- the effective ones.

If you find a site you like, make an effort to state why you like it. If it doesn't work, state why -- regardless of whether or not you tell the rest of us about your feelings. Just do it!
