- I would like you to review my site overall. I designed it and my daughter did the html coding and uploading (she's the computer geek in the family). It is the 3rd incarnation and I would like some pointers on how to improve it's function and it's look. I intend to expand it someday soon as I'm in the process of launching a new career as a gallery painter in Europe. I'll be adding an art for sale section which will be a link to my agent's site.

- This site is just a personal website about my life, circle of friends, and what I get into. It also has various videos I have made in highschool, and some current stuff. There's pictures too! Take notice of my layout and design, possibly accessibility, and creativity. I like my site, and would possibly be willing to make websites for people other than myself in the future. There are also links on my site to other pages I have developed.

http://www.billhanrahan.com/ - from: Bill Hanrahan, posted for review on: 1/26/2004 - Cucumberhead, a personal site.
- This is the second personal site that I have done. It exists because I have an interest in web design. I am trying to incorporate new things that I have never done myself. It may be a little slim in the content department. It is an ongoing project and I will change it with any good advise. Particularly the links page. Please note that it was my intention to have a clean look and feel. I am questioning my navigation on the links and pics page. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.
http://cucumberhead.home.comcast.net - from: Tim Westgate, posted for review on: 1/26/2004 - Espaço Leide
- This is my personal web site to share with people who know me, or with those who are interested in knowing me a bit more to have some clues about me. So there I express my ideas about life, family and work. I would like to know if the design is ok for that kind of idea and if there is any thing I could do to make it easier to navigate and find what people are looking for: information about me.

http://www.geocities.com/jimarspeaksagain - from: Jimar Espiritu, posted for review on: 1/26/2004 - Brent Morrissey's First Web Site
- Hello to all Visitors Reveiwing My Site. This is my first Web Site ever created. I currently attend Palomar College in southern California. One of my classes is Webpage layout where I am learning the skills to create this site. This site is online due to an serious and almost fatal auto accident I was in last year, because I'm trying to turn a bad situation into a good one. Please keep in mind that my last update with a computer before my Death Cheating Experience was a COMMODORE 64, (A computer in the early 80's), if anyone knows what that dinosaur is! Everything on this site is done by me. I'm posting this site so that I can find out if their are any browser errors or just any errors in general. Also please critique my page layout, navigation, etc. etc. All comments and opinions are welcome. I really want to review all the feedback. My Web site was created using Dreamweaver 2004 MX. Thank You for your time.

- This is a mock-up of the type of web page I want to have when I can afford to have someone 'code' it for me. I'm not web savvy, more of a traditionalist print designer and illustrator from the drafting table and Rapidograph Pen era. I'm using Photshop extensively now, but haven't any real web experience. The buttons on the left don't work, but hopefully will when/if I get the site done properly. Right now viewers have to click the copy at the bottom of the page to go where they might want to visit. What advice would you give me to improve the site. Is it too goofy or cluttered?

Reviewing Web Sites
One designer recently said
"You learn good design by looking at bad design."... another states
"You learn good design through the works of others."
Both of these are correct -- but only to a certain point. We believe that you learn good design through the works of others only when you make an effort to actually evaluate the work and state why you think it works or doesn't work. Only then do you actually make it part of your knowledge-base. We're all born with the same set of tools. Those tools you develop and 'grow' are the ones that you use for life -- the effective ones.
If you find a site you like, make an effort to state why you like it. If it doesn't work, state why -- regardless of whether or not you tell the rest of us about your feelings. Just do it!
