Adobe PageMill user?

You probably have already know
... PageMill is a tremendous success, despite it's various problems.
This Adobe program has become one of the most widely used programs on the planet
for WYSIWYG page layout of web pages. Thousands upon thousands of people use it every
day with great success. It was the first to really come out and embrace the Macintosh
interface for HTML generation. It's now available for both platforms, and it you
use it, you need this.
The big complaint
...we get from PageMill users, is the fact that Adobe has gotten way too carried
away with their own Acrobat product. The entire manual is in pdf format. Obviously
the Adobe product planners don't use their own products on a day to day basis.
- Thank goodness for Peachpit books and Maria Langer.
They've teamed up and produced the PageMill Visual QuickStart Guide books
for both Mac and PC, and they're very, very good. If you use PageMill, you'll need
this book. In fact, if you're thinking about purchasing PageMill you should get this
book at the same time...in fact -- Adobe should bundle the book WITH PageMill and
forget about those pdf files. If you'd like to take a little sample, just look at
Maria's TABLES TUTORIAL.
You'll see me evangelizing the Visual QuickStart Guides a great deal here because
I believe in them. They teach with pictures rather than lengthy explanations, and
you'll be up and running in no time! They're also a trusty companion for even the
veterans when those commands just don't seem to come to mind.
We've known that building Web pages has been a tedious and error prone process for
all but the hard-core programmers. PageMill includes just about everything you need
to create individual pages, forms, and clickable images - all in an environment that
hides HTML tags and looks and feels like a normal word processor.
Although PageMill is considered a miracle by some, HTML often eludes
even the slick PageMill programming.
You'll be forced to rely on your own know-how. That's where the Quick Start Guides
come in. Maria's writing is so clear and friendly -- and the referencing and indexing
so easy to use -- you'll find the answers to your questions in half the time it will
take to even launch Acrobat -- even IF you had a truck-load of extra megs
on the hard drive for the pdf files! (Which I don't!) That's also why PageMill 2
Visual QuickStart Guide has become the WebDesign & Review "Official"
handbook for PageMill -- and why it's a FREE book selection when you subscribe
to WebDeisgn & Review.
Later, when the Design & Publishing Online Training Center brings its
PageMill class online, this is the text book you'll be using.
