Generate abstract paintings full of imaginative shapes and expressive color

abstract cityscape oil painting

I was at an art fair on Las Olas recently and booth after booth was selling spectacular oil paintings. I noticed how "perfect" they were, so I went in for a very close look. Wow -- nobody else noticed, but these were digital paintings -- and they were flying off the shelf at anywhere from $200 to $20,000. Hello!
Then I get this note from Akvis and I'm thinking ... maybe I ought to give up this internet publishing and sell oil paintings in Key West. It would probably pay for my retirement! May 18, 2017

Discover the fine arts of rock and stone painting!

Fred Showker's Creative tidbits

While working up some pages and Creative Tidbits for our Designing Women special I discovered the art of painting stones. I had no idea it is such a popular and wide-spread practiced art and craft. Although searches bring up literally millions of images, it is not a new art. It's one that's been practiced for thousands of years. Here are just a few of the highlights we found.

  • Rock Art!: Painting and Crafting with the Humble Pebble
  • How to paint rock mandalas
  • Meditative Mandala Stones
  • The Art of Stone Painting

Fred Showker's Creative tidbits

It's always rewarding to read a young upstart revealing the lessons I've taught in my seminars and workshops for well over two and a half decades.
