Fonts Festival Again? September? Autumn? YES

Yes, it's happened each year for the past 22 years, and it is happening again for the 23rd! Gosh, where does the time go? Here is your opportunity to share your favorite fonts, or fonts treatment with DTG and Design Center readers -- and have a good time doing it! Don't forget, this is a two-month special, so in October, we'll be showing your favorites -- only if you send them in! If you love fonts, hate fonts, make fonts or abuse fonts, we want to hear from you. Pour your thoughts into the creative mill and we'll all have a great time!... Got fonts? Get Famous.
Have a great September and opening for autumn!

FFF #1 : The 23rd Annual Fall Fonts Festival on Font & Typography, calligraphy, lettering

Welcome to the 23rd Annual Fall Fonts Festival in September of 2017! This year we're going to change and tweak our approach a bit to bring you more interesting tidbits on type, fonts use, calligraphy or hand lettering and the use of fonts and type in graphic design. Back 23 years ago the focus was on free, downloadable fonts! Today there are so many online, we'll be focusing more on fonts and typography in graphic design! Here's our 23rd year's FIRST fonts surf ... follow along~!

FFF #2 : Rounds and curves, email fonts and the return of Mario in this Fonts Fest edition

Continue on as we delve into more and more interesting and inspiring type and typography sitings! I am particularly enjoying Lauren Lee's rounded Somatic font, and you all should take a look at the "Typography in Emails" piece! Continue on, and have a great time ...

FFF #3 : Spec contest for design? A great slab family, and a little Kinetic type movement

Continue on as we visit a great developer for Monotype with a superb slab, then peek in on what appears to be a contest to design a typographic brochure (Could this be spec work???) then we're loving a little motion ditty created in Photoshop! FFF #3 : Spec contest for design? A great slab family, and a little Kinetic type movement

60-Seconds #339 : The Anatomy of a Clickbait Predator Spam site, and what to avoid

FLAMED : After getting flamed on Facebook, called a racist and told I did not know what a 'click bait' site is, I had to go look and see if the rules had changed, or if there was some other measurement for click-bait that I did not know about. The purpose of click bait is to get people to open the page, and thereby trip all the revenue links on the page to earn money for the author. Let's see how that works! 60-Seconds #339 : The Anatomy of a Clickbait Predator Spam site, and what to avoid

Convert lettering, type, photos, drawings, or art into Artistic Chalkboard designs and signs

As we highlighted in the Gallery for the Fall Fonts Fest, chalk art is a growing craze that really takes a lot of talent. Well, now there's a very cool App for Macintosh and Windows that may reduce a lot of the need for talent because it actually simulates chalkboard art! Amazing! Convert lettering, type, photos, drawings, or art into Artistic Chalkboard designs and signs

Photographers and Artists are truly loving what ImageFramer does for their self publishing!

This is a cool app that everyone who takes and presents photographs should try! Plus it's just a lot of fun working with the program, coming up with cool frames for your potos. Check it out, I think you've have a ball! Photographers and Artists are truly loving what ImageFramer does for their self publishing!

Graphic Novel : Border Worlds: A dark and visionary adventure

WITH HER LIFE IN CHAOS AND NOTHING LEFT TO LOSE, Jenny Woodlore joins her brother's ramshackle trucking business on Chrysalis, a huge floating platform on the edge of the galaxy — only to find herself in the middle of a cosmic conflict that could change the very fabric of the universe. Is it worth 13-bucks to get your print colors to always match your screen colors?

Investing in your color management is always a good investment -- particularly when you can see your color selections in print. During my DGEF Creative Layout Techniques seminars one of the most frequent questions from attendees was how do your get the print color to look like the screen color? That's always been one of the tough nuts to crack -- and my answer and solution to ALL those screen to print color woes was : See it in print. Period. There is no monitor, and no software that will satisfy your color eye. If this was available then, this would have been what I would recommend. Is it worth 13-bucks to get your print colors to always match your screen colors?

PhotoSync, still one of the great apps for iOS! Get your photos together

Never mind those other apps ... we've told you about PhotoSync before, and now they've given it a killer update to the app when you need to transfer, backup and share photos and videos over the air. The update introduces transfer from / to "OneDrive for Business" and over 50 further improvements. PhotoSync, still one of the great apps for iOS! Get your photos together

Slidium: The easiest way to create markdown presentations

Slidium 1.0.2, an important update to the popular full-featured presentation tool for macOS. Slidium is the easiest way to create beautiful presentation slides from Markdown, including graphs and diagrams -- AND can be used by Markdown experts or beginners. Putting video segments together gets easier and more intuitive with Splitt

Have you tried the new iMovie? What did you think? Did you ask why they made it harder to use and more cryptic to find your way around? When you need to put together some quick video, you may want to check out Splitt Putting video segments together gets easier and more intuitive with Splitt

Property Law Primer for Multimedia Developers

J. Dianne Brinson and Mark F. Radcliffe created this masterful, authoritative essay on intellectual property laws in the United States back a decade ago -- but it is still valid in todays content-over-saturated, online world. This is good information for anyone who publishes online or otherwise. Property Law Primer for Multimedia Developers

Signs of the Times : New NAIL Magazine Celebrates Creatives in the Resistance

Folks, I don't generally run just any piece that appears in my in-box, and certainly I try to steer clear of political issues (particularly in these times) but Ted Leonhardt has been a contributor over the years, and is certainly qualified to grace the pages of DT&G. He's come up with some crazy stuff in the past, but this? Well, this might just top them all! A magazine for creatives in the resistance? I know I'll catch a lot of crap on this one, but go ahead . . . hit me with your best crap! Signs of the Times : New NAIL Magazine Celebrates Creatives in the Resistance

Here we are... then the Holidays

Amazingly, a number of readers have started following my life on FaceBook, and now on Pinterest! Here we are, after nearly 30 years online! Twenty-three years ago we started the fonts festival, and it's the most attended two months of the year. Before all the replicator sites, and social media sites we would welcome a million viewers during the festival. Even today, we'll see at least a quarter million.

In October we continue our 23rd annual Fall Fonts Fest -- if you've got favorite fonts, type, typography, or even sites that are good for type and typography, you should get in touch!

For now, have a great time in the September DTG ... Don't forget to stay in touch, and we hope to see your type
* September is the beginning of Autumn, and the gateway to the holidays
* September is brought to you by the color "Ochre,
. . . which is a very good color for September...

Thanks for reading... go forth and be creative!
