Klez Worm, Not Sender, Hates You
That Klez e-mail worm is appearing in yet another, more socially insidious form. It's being spread by people you know, or at least that's the way it appears.

'Why Not?' Visual Poetry
Simon Geraghty sent me this note, and when I visited the site I was so taken with its visual presentation and content I just had to pass it along to you.
"Why Not" is a web site for the Book of Visual Poetry -- an Anthology of V!sual Ilk' authored by Simon himself. The site features poetically graphic illustration and creative writing. The book consists of four chapters; 'Nothing', 'Anything', 'Someth!ng', and 'Everythink', with a poem from each chapter.
I think it's worth your time to take a look and get a break from the usual grindstone.

Automated 3D Effects directly from Photoshop's Actions Palette
JTHREE Software has rolled out ZYTEX.1 -- a super collection of illustration techniques that automatically dimensionalize, distort and apply your artwork to a variety of 3-D textured surfaces. This new generation software solves two of the biggest problems designers face when they employ technology -- maintaining design integrity and learning additional software commands.
With ZYTEX.1 you don't need to learn new software commands -- it employs the Photoshop actions pallet. Projects that previously took hours now take minutes to complete -- and by using the actions palette there's no additional load on the system, or separate interfaces to load. Traditional filters and plug-ins for Photoshop are great... however, ZYTEX might just make things better with more iterations, lower cost and higher quality design.

Better rankings on search engines?
Our friends at VSE Software seem to think so -- they've published a scientific study that will educate webmasters on the details of obtaining better rankings.
Most Internet surfers use search engines to locate web sites but only a minority of them look beyond the top 10 search results. Therefore, obtaining a high position on search engine result pages is essential for every online business.
But how do search engines rank a web site? The "Search Engine Ranking" study, endeavors to answer this question for all the major search engines, Google, Altavista, iWon/Inktomi, AllTheWeb, Wisenut and Teoma. 144 attributes of 103,260 top 10 web pages were examined in the study, making it the most comprehensive search engine ranking study available today.
* Should a domain name include a keyword for best results?
* Does it help if you put keywords in bold?
* Does the age of a web site influence the ranking?
* What's the ideal size of the TITLE tag?
* How often should your keywords appear in the META keywords tag?
* What's the ideal search term density in the body text?
* Do keywords in IMG ALT attributes really matter?
* Do you really need a lot of links to your web site for a top ranking?
The search engine ranking study gives surprising answers to these and many more questions. It helps webmasters to find out what's myth and what's fact.
One of our favorite programs, VSE LinkTester is also from Johannes Selbach who makes it his business to help improve the quality online experience -- Web developers, web masters. ... This essential report is available at: http://www.vse-online.com/se-studies   [top]
Neenah Paper Revises Classic Columns Papers
The highly anticipated revision to the famous CLASSIC COLUMNS Papers Red Pepper swatchbook is strikingly different and it's not just the color of the cover. The sophisticated, bold, new swatchbook includes new core whites and bold accent colors as well as an additional finish, PrintMAX.
PrintMAX is an enhanced print surface available in select whites in text and cover weights. New product additions include Avalanche White, a blue-white shade with 99+ brightness; two new subtle off-white sheets; and two new accent colors, Gold Rush and Charcoal. These accent colors along with Safari, Red Pepper, Epic Black and others also team up in 10 duplex cover combinations. CLASSIC COLUMNS Papers also have five 120 lb. double thick covers offering substance and versatility.
PrintMAX finish provides sharper image reproduction and more uniform solid ink areas. The result is better ink holdout hence less dot gain -- it's available in select whites in text and cover weights. All writing and text weights are laser and ink jet guaranteed.
