Tired of Click-N-Wait Web Navigation?
According to the MicroSurfer Company, their new MicroSurfer 2.0 optimizes and organizes Web access, enabling you to jump directly between links -- without waiting for Web pages to display or backtracking through a browser. If it works, this is a very cool idea indeed. MicroSurfer's approach to navigating the Web solves surfers' two most common problems: waiting for Web pages to download and display, and getting lost trying to return to previously visited pages. Instead of visiting a series of links on a Web page individually in a browser -- returning each time to the original page to explore its remaining links -- MicroSurfer users are able to surf directly and immediately to any links they select, without having to return to the page the links came from.
(Remember, you can do the exact same effect by opening each successive web page in a "new" browser window.)
Links dragged from any Web page and dropped into the MicroSurfer window begin downloading in the background to the browser's cache, without interrupting the foreground session. Click on any downloaded link in MicroSurfer -- a color-coded download status icon next to each link indicates when it is ready to be viewed -- and the Web page displays in your browser immediately. Users can jump between captured links instantly, in any order, without having to find the page the links came from, making MicroSurfer indispensable for surfing through search results, portals, and news, sports or financial sites--anytime there is more than one link on a page that the user wants to explore.
The downloadable software sells for $99.95 to businesses, governmental entities and educational institutions and for $39.95 to individuals and non-profit organizations. An advertising supported version is also available as a free download.
MicroSurfer 2.0 requires a PC with an Intel 486 or higher processor; Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows Me, Windows NT or Windows XP with direct or dial-up Internet access. MicroSurfer supports Netscape Navigator 3 or 4 as well as Microsoft Internet Explorer 4, 5 or 6.

AutoCAD 2002, AutoCAD LT, Autodesk VIZ 4 Training CDs
OpenCAD has updated and released its interactive training products for AutoCAD 2002, AutoCAD LT 2002 & Autodesk VIZ 4.
OpenCAD President, Nancy Fulton, says "As always, the content for these comprehensive training products is taken from our successful Complete Support training sites. Each training CD delivers comprehensive, step by step instruction for the specified product. New users master the skills they need to use these applications in a production environment. Self-trained users quickly acquire the skills and confidence they need to tackle more advanced projects."
OpenCAD founded its first commercially profitable online training site, called Complete Support for 3DS MAX, in 1996. The Complete Support for AutoCAD and Complete Support for 3D Studio VIZ sites were launched shortly thereafter. OpenCAD's most recent site, Complete Support for AutoCAD LT, went live in January.
"We have thousands of happy customers who depend upon our products to make mastering difficult software applications easy and cost effective," Fulton states. "The secret to success in online training lies in the ability to produce a very large quantity of high quality content quickly and to support that content with exceptional service. In a very real way, people depend upon our training sites and CDs to do their jobs. We work hard not to let them down."

Completely Web-based Administration for your Web Sites
The latest release of FastPage (v3.5) from Internet Expressions, Inc., offers a number of new features and represents the largest update in the history of the product. Version 3.5's completely web-based administration tools give site administrators the ability to create and edit pages using customizable templates, assign user edit permissions, define portions of pages that are allowed to be edited, and define content format. Site administrators can give permissions to users to edit specific pages, create new pages from templates on-demand, upload images, media files and edit rich textual content. A new online help system ensures that users that are editing their web pages only need basic word processing skills to maintain content.

Barcode UFL plug-in for Crystal Reports
IDAutomation.com, Inc. has released version 2 of their Barcode UFL (User Function Library) which is a plug-in for Seagate Crystal Reports. The UFL plug-in allows users of Crystal Reports to integrate modern barcode font technology directly into their report print process instead of exporting data to a proprietary label program. Version 2 includes performance improvements, new mode options and support for Code 128, Code 39, LOGMARS, Interleaved 2 of 5, SCC-14, SSCC-18, POSTNET, USPS Special Services as well as other popular barcodes.
The UFL plug-in is supplied in an easy-to-install executable file. Once installed, barcode functions appear in the formula editor. These functions can be easily applied to fields on reports that require barcodes. The UFL will perform the proper calculations required and format the return string for the selected barcode font. The UFL plug-in is a free download, however, it only works with barcode fonts available from IDAutomation.com, Inc. Their "Complete TrueType Font Package" costs $199 USD and includes all linear barcode fonts as well as MICR and OCR. (http://www.bizfonts.com/crystal/)
In addition to Barcode fonts, IDAutomation.com, Inc. also provides the ASP Barcode Server Component, Java servlets, barcode scanners, Microsoft Office Barcode Add-ins and ActiveX Controls.
