Adobe Photoshop 5 Review by Mike Berceanu

Actions

Those who are keen on macros will be glad to hear that the power of Actions has been extended and you can now record virtually any operation, though brush strokes are still unrecordable.

an excellent type

Type has become so much easier. Controls are now available within the Type Dialogue box for a full range of attributes including font colour, kerning, leading, size and size mix, baseline shift, letter orientation and alignment. What's more, the text can remain live so that by double clicking on a text layer allows you to modify text at any time.

Layer Effects

In earlier versions of Photoshop, creating type effects such as drop shadows required a mastery of mysterious channel and filter manipulation that took ages to work up, but now it's so easy. Drop shadows, glows, bevels and embossing can now be attached as a live characteristic which automatically updates whenever the layer is changes. Simple and elegant.
