Photoshop Madness : Women

Photoshop Madness this month took us out onto the web in search of extraordinary women Photoshoppers … and we found hundreds! These are just a few… also some freebies as well!

Photoshop Madness, Fred Showker surfs the web in search of good Photoshop stuff

PHOTOSHOP MADNESS for Designing Women PHOTOSHOP MADNESS is where you practically go mad trying to find the most useful stuff for Photoshop out there among a jungle of bush-leagers, Rube Goldbergers, site scalpers, and domain kiters!

This month’s quest for outstanding designing women brought us some rather extraordinary women in graphic arts. There seemed to be a theme that began to thread and weave its way through our discoveries — attitude. As we learned in our talk about the “Guerrilla Girls” in this month’s column — there’s a lot of attitude going on out there! So mingled in amongst the freebies and cool (other) Photoshop tutorials and stuff found, we’re proud to present these Photoshopping Women with an attitude!

Be careful what you click -- beware of malware and phishing sites Always look out for broken links. I cannot believe how many people on the web allow their content links to go dead! Tsk, tsk, tsk. Anyway, if you hit a dead link in our Photoshop Madness series, please tell me about it! As always, we remind you, especially Windows users — be careful what you click. There are malware, phishing stalker and predator links abundant in many of the replicated sites these days. Whatch those little popups in the text. Just stay on the tutorial / content paths and you’ll be okay.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr ….

Diamante Murru

Diamante Murru

Not much is known about Diamante artworks or Diamante Murru other than she has a remarkable eye for the bazaar, and she’s really into blues and purples. She seems to have a marked propensity toward body perforations — but then, we could be mistaken. Some of this stuff is startling … all is wonderful

Ana Gomez: hard edged softness

Ana Gomez: hard edged softness

Ana Gomez is an illustrator by choice, and a graphic designer by necessity. She got her start as a freelancer in Barcelona then moved to New York where she now focuses on illustration, graphic design, and drawing. Her work is remarkable, particularly for the amount of hard-edged detail mixed with softness. Don’t miss her personal works on http://www.behance.net/Anenocena

Elena Dolgova

Elena Dolgova

Leave it to an Austrian to be just a little on the bawdy side! We love it. There’s nothing bashful or reserved about Elena, and her art and design just sparkles heads above most others. You’ll really like her “perverted playing cards” deck, which you can actually buy!

Emily's self study in water

Emily’s self study in water

Photoshop tutorial how to draw skinEmily Oldroyd, also from the United Kingdom claims to be a self-proclaimed genius. At age 19, I really don’t think she’s quite ready for that boast, but I’m firmly convinced that some day she will indeed achieve the honor. Others have recognized this raw talent too — she has recently been commissioned to be the colourist for the comic Superhero Nation.
Amongst her art, you’ll also find a gallery section called tutorials, where she shares her talents with you like how to paint hair in Photoshop. Outstanding. Her portfolio is not mature, but some of the pieces like her wonderful self study in water or Innocent and End of Humanatee speak to the viewer on a primal level.
