Infrared Photo Effect in Photoshop

Photoshop Photo Retouching Tutorials

Steve Patterson, over at Photoshop Essentials (Scott Kelby's site) takes a bit of a different tact and presents this tutorial as a way to simulate the infrared effect with photos taken using point-and-shoot cameras. Steve writes :
In this Photoshop Effects tutorial, we’re going to learn how to simulate the look of infrared photography in Photoshop. We’ll be taking a look at Photoshop’s Channels palette and seeing how to isolate a color channel as well as how to apply filters to color channels, we’ll be using adjustment layers, specifically the Channel Mixer adjustment layer to adjust how much impact each individual channel has on the image, we’ll be using a few different layer blend modes, adding some noise, and at the end, seeing how to bring some of the color from the original image back into the effect.

What is HDR and why do we need it?

Photoshop Photo Retouching Tutorials

This tutorial looks at HDR photography. HDRI (High Dynamic Range Imaging) was originally used in 3D and is now in full force in photography. Basically it's the process of taking multiple exposures and merging them together into a single 32 bit image. Author Colin Smith writes :
I originally wrote this tutorial for Photoshop CS3, in the years since then, Photoshop has gotten a couple of big upgrades in the HDR area, and we are now at Photoshop CS6. I have also learned a great deal more about the subject, so I decided it was time for an update.
