Product labeling and packaging study for inspiration and design ideas

One of the best ways to learn and practice design, typography and illustration is to emulate (not “copy”) the works of others. Like this collection of wonderfully unique and rare bottles and bottle labels for Tequila! Here are designs you probably won’t find in your local stores . . . enjoy!

One of the best ways to learn and practice design, typography and illustration is to emulate (not “copy”) the works of others. And subject to that — we have to find and see as many possible examples as we can. So start a listing of cool things that you’ve found that give you creative inspiration and jumpstarts. Send them in to share with others

I have always enjoyed labels on packaging. Sometimes the more bizarre the better — and there’s no better place to look than into the labeling of products from other countries.

This collection presents a series of very unique tequila bottle labels. I cite them not because they emulate a project, or they have some use in my design practice, but rather because they are fairly rare, and have been created in an attempt to be unique among all tequila packaging. Chances are, you will not see these at your liquor store unless you’re in a very large metropolitan area.

While you are browsing these, and on each one — ask yourself what the designer was thinking… why were the colors selected, what influenced decisions for solid print or transparency; why was that particular visual association made — and how. AND is it a visual association that will help you in your current design project! Don’t forget to send in your ideas and discoveries! ENJOY. . .
