Signs of linking over-optimization

With all the discussion about the soon to arrive over-optimized website penalty, what about links? Many people think of SEO as an on-site matter, even though SEO is also deeply related to external signals, such as the links that point at your site and they way they point at your site.
      As Barry Schwartz recently mentioned in Google Sending Warnings About ‘Artificial’ Or ‘Unnatural’ Links, Google says this isn’t a fresh crackdown on link networks but rather a change from bad links being ‘silently distrusted’ to being more vocal about this type of penalty.

The best way to optimize your mobile site for SEO

Less than 10 percent of you are mobile ready in 2012. However, there are some pretty compelling reasons for going mobile in 2012, including the Compuware study that 57 percent of customers would not recommend a business with a bad mobile site, and 40 percent would actually even go to a competitor with a better mobile experience.
      If you’re a regular reader of this column and you don’t have a mobile experience, you are in the majority of site owners; but you’re also way behind and may not be able to catch up if you wait much longer.
